Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga

I am now qualified to teach pre and postnatal yoga, having trained with appleyoga, completing their 86 hour Yoga Alliance accredited course.

Practising yoga while pregnant can not only help keep you strong and flexible; it can also help prepare you for birth and help your body recover faster afterwards. It can ease backache, release tension, help you breathe and relax, and connect with the baby as you move with consciousness of the growing person inside you. Keeping the joints moving can also help to prevent or reduce swelling.

Many of the postures practised in antenatal yoga help to encourage the baby into the perfect position for an easy birth.

You can practise yoga safely from 14 weeks of pregnancy onwards.

Postnatal yoga (after your six week check) can help you get your figure back safely, by working from the inside out.  The pelvic floor and abdominal muscles have taken a battering, so we work on recovering the strength of these muscles, relieving tired backs and shoulders and generally regaining lost strength and energy.

In pre and postnatal yoga the relaxation session at the end is a wonderful way to allow your body and mind to totally let go and replenish itself, helping you stay calm throughout the day.

If you would like to attend a pre or postnatal class or have one to one sessions please contact me.  Classes change with demand.
